Aardvarkers Poetry Group

Seeking people of all ages to share and workshop poems. The group was established in 1992 and has self-published seven anthologies to date. Our aim is to strengthen the poet's spirit and voice.

Several readings and poetry sprints are held during the year. The council organises three popular, nationwide writing competitions annually: Youth Writes, Martha Richardson Poetry Medal, and Southern Cross Literary Competition. Entry and membership forms are available online. The BWC conducts the Ballarat Writing Festival every October.

A writers' support group for South Gippsland writers of all ages. Current membership is 18, and new members are always welcome. The group published their first anthology Driftwood and other Treasures in 2003 and continue to publish an anthology each year.

Each session costs $5, which goes towards the cost of printing the next anthology. Writing topics: poetry, short stories - any subject, although current trend is towards family history/memoir. All adult age groups represented. 

 Brunswick Poetry Workshop

Meet: Fourth Tuesday evening each month.

Currently has 13 members. Members set themselves writing tasks, which they collectively review. Their first anthology was printed in September 2004. Members also share their own projects for group criticism and appraisal. As funds permit, guest authors are invited to inspire and the group also organises an annual workshop for the community. The group has a fortnightly space in the local newspaper to air their writing.

SuperNOVA meets monthly, usually at someone's house. The location changes each month, and ranges from Altona in Melbourne's west, to Preston in the north and Oakleigh in the east. Generally we meet on the first Sunday of the month at 2pm (until about 6pm). This group takes only speculative fiction (sci fi/fantasy/horror) writers.

Wonderful Wonthaggi Writers

A small group of dedicated writers based in the Bass Coast Shire. Writers donate $5 or whatever they can afford each week to contribute to rent. Remaining funds are also used to buy books or saved for workshop fees and literary functions. Our members' interests include poetry, comedy, romance, satire, children's fiction, non-fiction and autobiographical work. We explore and encourage all genres. Published and non-published writers are welcome to come along.

We workshop each other's writings, discuss news, achievements, relevant competitions and recently have begun a section of the meeting as a kind of 'lecture' where one member shares her expertise in a particular field or perhaps asks for specific help with plot, characterisation, etc.
